Welcome to the blog of The Tower, the University of Minnesota’s art and literary magazine. Before I begin, let me take off my cloak of invisibility and introduce who I am.
My name is Asmaa Gass, and I’m the Online Editor for our magazine. I currently work at Caribou, take Karate classes, and spend a lot of time on YouTube. Besides loving Harry Potter, hot cheetos (extra hot), and studying at Sencha, I love blogs.
It makes my day reading a well-written blog post, and I appreciate the hard work and passion writers put into their work. Members of The Tower staff couldn't agree more.
Besides our love for blogs, we have four reasons why we started our own:
1. Improve SEO and traffic
As our readers and supporters, you need a good reason to visit our website more than once. And why would you, if it’s the same information you’ve read two months ago?
2.Share and connect
We all have our own voices. By sharing what we love to write about, you'll learn more about the editors of The Tower, and maybe connect with us. Who knows? Maybe you want a second season of One Punch Man as much as I do.
3. Start conversations
Hearing feedback from our submitters, readers, and friends is crucial for improving our magazine. If there’s anything you’ve been dying to tell us about our magazine, feel free to comment below.
4. It’s 2017
We have other means of spreading the word (chalking, class visits, etc.), but nothing’s easier than a quick Google search. We make everyone's lives easier by having all the information, personality, and updates in one simple URL. The question isn't why we have a blog—it's why we didn’t have one sooner.
Our plan is to have anyone from our staff post something they’re passionate about—even if it’s not related to The Tower. We will also keep you updated on the work we do throughout the year. If there’s anything you want us to write about, feel free to let us know below.
Thank you for your interest in our blog. We look forward to hearing from you!
Shoutout to our staff for working hard to spread the word!
